You should have all received the budget proposal by now in hard copy, and were previously provided access to the electronic version. If you did not receive your hard copy, please contact us and we'll make sure that a hard copy is available for you at Monday's Executive Board meeting - in the meantime, please use the electronic version.
It's important to point out a critical component of budget proposal, which is not in the budget book; the association's Strategic Plan. Earlier this year, the Strategic Planning Committee met to deliberate and draft the association's 2023-2024 Strategic Plan. In June, Committee Chair Brandy Guthrie presented the plan to the Executive Board, which approved and sent the plan to Board of Directors for final approval in September.
The plan plays an integral role in the creation of the association's budget. As you often hear from Travis Kessler, "the plan drives the budget and the budget drives the allocation of resources." The Budget & Finance Committee utilized the plan in its evaluation of the proposal and felt satisfied that the high-level strategies outlined in the plan are addressed in the budget proposal.
Executive Board members should also familiarize themselves with the objectives in the plan in your review of the proposal as well. Read the plan. Feel free to ask staff questions about how various aspects of the budget relate to the plan.
Please note that the plan is current in the graphic design stage, so what you are seeing at the link above is simply the text of the plan. Do not distribute this version. The final version with design aspects applied will be completed in the coming weeks in time for Conference and you will receive a copy to use and distribute.
